How the app works

One Big Thing is a simple focus app. Pick the one task that matters most — for today, this week, this month, or this year — and do it.

Tap the circle on any task to mark it done. Completed tasks move to History after 36 hours.

Tap the trophy icon to see your completion rate and all your epic wins for the year.

Tap the bell icon to set a daily notification reminding you to set your Big Thing.

Where is my data stored?

All your tasks and settings are stored privately on your device only. Nothing is sent to the cloud or any server. If you delete the app, your data is deleted with it.

Why did a completed task disappear?

Completed tasks stay visible in the active view for 36 hours so you can see your win or undo it if needed. After 36 hours they automatically move to the History tab, where they are kept permanently.

Can I undo marking a task complete?

Yes — within 36 hours of completing a task, you can go to the History tab and tap the undo arrow to bring it back to the active view. After 36 hours the task is locked as complete.

How do I edit a task?

Tap the pencil icon on any task card. The form at the top of the screen will fill in with that task's details. Make your changes and tap Update.

How do I turn off notifications?

Tap the bell icon at the top of the main screen to open Reminder Settings. Toggle daily reminders off. You can also manage notification permissions in iPhone Settings → One Big Thing → Notifications.

Why does the Year in Review show 0%?

The Year in Review shows completion rate for the selected year. Use the arrow buttons to make sure you have the correct year selected, and make sure you have tasks marked as complete for that year.

Does the app work without an internet connection?

Yes — One Big Thing works completely offline. It requires no internet connection at any time.

Does the app require an account?

No. There are no accounts, no sign-up, and no login. Just open the app and start.
